Pace Of COVID-19 Vaccinations In Dickinson County Continues To Ramp Up

March 23, 2021

(Spirit Lake)– COVID-19 vaccinations in Dickinson county are continuing to ramp up. Katy Burke of Dickinson County Public Health gave an update at today’s (Tues.) Board of Supervisors meeting…Vaccination Update03

“So far as of Monday we’ve added some numbers from what you see on the report we have given 5,448 doses so far of Moderna and of those we’ve given over 2,000 completed series. So we are starting to see some real movement in this. And of course we’re not alone in doing this rollout. Hy-Vee has also been getting some consistent doses, about 200 at each location. So we’re seeing an average of 700 doses going into Dickinson county residents’ arms each week.”

Burke says as of right now Dickinson County Public Health continues to receive mostly the Moderna vaccine. She says they’re hoping to soon start getting some of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as well…Vaccination Update04

“There have been a couple weeks here that Iowa has not received Johnson and Johnson but that will begin to happen. And a lot of that will be directed toward manufacturing so starting next week we will begin doing manufacturing in Dickinson county working with our partners in occupational health and also the businesses in our area to get it done on site to make it as convenient as possible for those employees that are unable to socially distance.”

Burke added some construction at the hospital will result in Dickinson County Public Health relocating some of their vaccination clinics to the Spirit Lake Senior Center.
