Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Spencer Jewelry Store Theft Case

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer woman accused of stealing money from a well-known Spencer jewelry store will go on trial after the first of the year.

28-year-old Leslie Hayenga-Adams pleaded not guilty this week to a charge of second degree theft. Her trial is set for January 6th in Clay County District Court.

Hayenga-Adams was arrested in September. She’s accused of diverting over five thousand dollars from Nelson Jewelry into her own bank account between January, 2001 and August, 2003. At the time of the theft, Hayenga-Adams was employed at the store as a bookkeeper.

In addition to the not-guilty plea, Hayenga-Adams also waived her right to a speedy trial.
