Winter Storm Leaves Ice, 2″ Snow, Frigid Temps In Wake

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The region was spared from the heaviest snowfall of the first winter storm of the season. But the glazed roads and two inches of snow that did fall combined to cause plenty of problems for motorists over the weekend.

Dickinson county authorities say numerous accidents took place late Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Freezing drizzle made roads treacherous…sending unsuspecting motorists into the ditch. Authorities say no serious injuries were reported in any of the mishaps.

By late Saturday night most of the precipitation had turned to light snow, which continued through the day Sunday. Gusty wind combined with the snow to reduce visibility.

Highs are expected to reach the low 20’s today (Mon.) with moderating temperatures the rest of the week. Highs in the low 40’s will be possible Friday. The Thanksgiving holiday looks to be dry, with the next chance of precipitation not expected until Saturday night.
