(Okoboji)– With the temperature this (Tuesday) morning nearly 20 below zero, you can just about hear the ice getting thicker on the Iowa Great Lakes. It’s just what the doctor ordered with less than two weeks to go before the University of Okoboji Winter Games.
Even then, Lance Evans, a co-chair of this year’s Winter Games, says as of right now they’re still going with alternative plans to hold all of the events OFF the ice again this year. He hinted there could be a possibility of that changing, though, should ice conditions get a lot better and they get the okay from DNR officials.
Co-Chair Colin Heimensen says this year’s line-up again consists of traditional favorites, along with new activities such as dodge ball, a chess tournament, volleyball tournament and a longest drive contest on the ice if conditions allow.
