(Estherville)– The Spirit of Harmony chorus holds their annual Fall show this Saturday. Carol Fordyce, a member of the chorus, says it’s titled “What’s all the Buzz About?” She says it’s an adaptation of the childrens book ‘Buzzy the Bummblebee’…
“And we read this story every year before we go to our regional competition. The story is about a bee that kind of loses his way and he forgets that he can fly. Throughout the course of the story he realizes that it’s just a mindset and that he’s got to rediscover his ability to believe in himself and regain his ability to fly. So we’ve brought the story to life with the permission of the author, and we have brought it completely alive and we have people dressed in bee costumes and flowers and a gardener and a dragonfly. It’s a very cute production.”
Fordyce says they got permission from the author to create the show…
“The creative process was basically me sitting down with the book, writing it out into a script form and then we plug in some of the songs that we know and brought in some new songs to learn and brought it all together into a really cute story.”
The show will also feature Glenn Henricksen as a special guest performer.
Saturday’s performance begins at 2:00 pm at the Janice K. Lund Center for the Performing Arts at the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door with those eight and under admitted free. Tickets are available from any chorus member or Lewis Drug in Spirit Lake.
