(Spirit Lake)– Volunteers at Lakes Regional Healthcare will hold a special event this Friday in advance of the holidays.
Jennifer Gustafson, LRH Vice President of Marketing and Retail Services, says they’ll be holding their annual Holiday Sidewalk Sale this Friday, November 6th from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm…
“It’s held right inside our hospital’s east entrance, kind of by the Surgery Center, and it’s where you can buy donated jewelry, purses and holiday decor. It’s a great way to get some nice little Christmas gifts out of the way.”
Gustafson says it replaces another event the group help previously this time of the year…
“They used to have a masquerade, five dollar masquerade jewelry sale and that went on for many years but the vendor that they used said they couldn’t do it anymore so they thought, oh, what are we going to do? And they started doing the Holiday Sidewalk Sale. It’s really been a hit and they decided to do it again this year.”
Gustafson says the proceeds go to a very good cause…
“They’re used for area high school seniors that are going into school after high school to become a nurse or follow a career, go to school for a healthcare profession. They fund a certain amount of their tuition for that. And then they also give toward hospital staff that are also promoting their career and getting more, furthering their education, also.”
Gustafson says cash and checks will be accepted for Friday’s event, however credit and debit cards will NOT be.
