Verasun Energy Begins Construction On New Ethanol Plant Near Hartley

November 22, 2014

(Harley)– Work is under way on another ethanol plant in northwest Iowa.

Verasun Energy Corporation says construction has started on the plant near Hartley.

The plant, which can produce 110 million gallons a year, is slated to begin operations in early 2008. It will process more than 39 million bushels of corn each year and employ about 50 workers.

Verasun, based in Brookings, South Dakota, is the nation’s second-largest ethanol producer. It has two plants in operation–in Aurora, South Dakota and Fort Dodge. It’s building another in Charles City with a fourth in Welcome, Minnesota.
