Traffic Stop Results In Drug Charges Against Ruthven Man

November 22, 2014

(Ruthven)– A traffic stop Saturday evening landed a Ruthven man in jail on drug charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Ryan Stearns of Ruthven around 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

A subsequent license check resulted in authorities discovering Stearns had been driving without a valid driver’s license. Stearns was arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted. It turned up methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and lithium batteries.

Stearns was charged with possession of a controlled substance–methamphetamine; possession of precursors–lithium; possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to have a valid driver’s license.

Stearns was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 22,750-dollars.
