Thrill Show, Giant Slide & New Livestock Exhibition Center Among New Attractions At This Year’s Clay County Fair

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A very popular attraction from years gone by will be back in front of the grandstand at this year’s Clay County Fair.

Phil Hurst, the fair’s General Manager, tells KUOO the “Joey Chitwood Thrill Shows” will be performing the final Saturday and Sunday afternoons of the fair.

Another new attraction this year will be in the fair’s midway area. Hurst says it will feature a giant slide, which will be there permanently. He says it rivals similar slides at the Minnesota and Iowa State Fairs.

Another major change will be in the fair’s livestock exhibit area. Hurst says a swine barn that collapsed last winter due to heavy snow is being replaced with a 63,000 square foot building that will include a 30,000 square foot show arena.

Hurst says improvements are also being made to the cattle barns in preparation for a show coming up in June.
