Three Arrests Made In Regional Burglaries

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– O’Brien county authorities believe they’ve solved a recent rash of burglaries in several counties in the area.

Sheriff Michael Anderson says they got their break in a single-vehicle rollover that took place back on October 12th of this year on a dirt road three miles north of Primghar. While investigating that crash, Anderson says deputies discovered a number of items in the vehicle that had been reported stolen in burglaries in O’Brien and Osceola counties in Iowa and Nobles county, Minnesota.

Anderson says deputies then executed a search warrant on a Sheldon residence and recovered additional stolen property.

Anderson says most of the burglaries involved items such as gasoline, guns, tools, radios, small amounts of cash and other miscellaneous items.

As a result of the investigation, Anderson announced today (Tuesday) his office has filed charges against three men.

They include 20-year-old Terry Allen Johnson of New Ulm, Minnesota who was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, obstructing prosecution, possession of stolen property, possession of burglar tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

21-year-old Duane William Higgins of Hartley was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, obstructing prosecution, failure to report a personal injury accident, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of burglar tools and possession of marijuana.

And 22-year-old Dustin Shawn Brown of Sheldon was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools.

Anderson says additional charges may be pending by authorities in Osceola and Sioux counties in Iowa as well as Nobles and Watonwan counties in Minnesota.

Anderson says the investigation continues and additional arrests are possible.
