(Terril)– A whole grade sharing agreement between the Graettinger and Terril school districts is a done deal.
Both boards approved and signed off on the agreement at respective meetings Wednesday.
Terril Superintendent Bruce Tepfer says they’re glad to have this part of the process over with.
Tepfer says a letter will be going out to patrons of the Terril district in the very near future explaining the agreement, outlining course offerings, transportation issues, and options for open enrollment.
Tepfer says the arrangement will present new opportunities to the two districts that simply wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
One big question that surrounds the sharing agreement is the impact it will have on staff in the two districts. Tepfer says they’ll have a handle on that in late February or early March when the curriculum is finalized.
Under the agreement, effective with the upcoming school year, high school students will attend classes in Graettinger with middle school students going to Terril. Each district would continue to have it’s own elementary school. Most athletic and other extra curricular programs would also be shared.
Activities and open houses are being planned for both the Terril and Graettinger schools to acquaint students from the two districts and show off their facilities. The events will be held over the next month or so.
