State Trooper Injured In Crash With Train Near Spencer Continues To Recover

(Orange City)– A state trooper from Orange City who was injured last month when his squad car collided with a train near Spencer continues to recover.

The Iowa State Patrol says 38-year-old David Driesen has been transferred from a Sioux Falls hospital to one in Orange City.

Driesen suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries.

The collision took place December 18th at a rural crossing near Spencer that had no lights or mechanical signals. Driesen wasn’t ticketed.

Officials say Driesen may be able to begin rehabilitation in the next month.
