(Spencer)– A Spencer man accused of tax evasion has pleaded guilty to reduced charges as part of a plea deal.
Christopher Burg was originally charged with three counts of fraudulent sales practices under $10,000, 10 counts of sales tax evasion, four counts of sales tax violation-permit revoked and one count of ongoing criminal conduct.
Online court records indicate Burg entered guilty pleas to two counts of fraudulent practices in exchange for the other felony and misdemeanor charges being dismissed. He was placed on five years of probation and will pay a $1,000 fine.
Burg had been under investigation in a tax evasion case involving some businesses he owned in Spencer back in 2019. He was arrested in October of that year.
