West Okoboji City Council Approves Additional Surveillance Cameras For Terrace Park Area

July 14, 2026

(West Okoboji)– Additional surveillance cameras will be going up at Terrace Park Beach. The West Okoboji City Council voted unanimously Monday evening to install two additional cameras, in addition to the four already in place.

City officials say the two additional cameras will cover areas of the beach currently not visible by the existing cameras. They say the already existing cameras have come in handy in addressing things such as vandalism and other incidents. Mayor Craig Miner says they could also help in another way…

“They could help us down the road, too, with any potential lawsuit, too. Any more now days, the more coverage we can get, the better we are.”

The two additional cameras, along with installation, will cost the city about $3,000.
