(Estherville)– The Iowa Lakes Community College Student Senate is once again hosting their Spooktacular Trunk or Treat event. Student Senate Administrator Corey Meyer says it will take place this Saturday from 5:00 until 6:00 pm at the Christensen Building at the Estherville campus…
“And the idea is to give the community a safe and warm place to go and take their kids around and do a trick or treating-esque event where they don’t have to brave the elements as well as give them a great experience. It’s also an opportunity to interact with some of our teams as well as other clubs and various departments around campus.”
He says various Iowa Lakes clubs, departments and athletic teams will be handing out candy and that they’ll also be competing for the title of “best decorated trunk”…
“Off the top of my head we have the Theatre Department, our Music Department is also having a little booth to hand out candy, a handful of athletic teams as well as like our Honor Society and the Theatre Club, so it’s a wide range of student groups that will be there participating.”
Meyer adds the annual event continues to grow in participation year-to-year…
“I think it’s kind of turning into a big event for the community and I really love seeing the turnout, so I encourage people to come take your kids through our event and then if they want to continue trick-or-treating and stuff like that, we try to team it up so it coincides with the town’s trick-or-treating, so it works really well for the parents to take their kids to ours either before or after they do their trick-or-treating around their neighborhood.”
Saturday’s event is free.
