(Rock Rapids)– A collision Sunday involving a jeep and an SUV in Lyon county injured two people, one fatally.

The Iowa State Patrol says a Buick Envision was northbound on Lyon County Road K52 near Rock Rapids when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a Jeep Wrangler that was eastbound on Lyon County Road A34.

Two occupants in the Jeep, 73-year-old Joleene Klaasen and 69-year-old Steven Ludwig, both of Sibley, were ejected. Klaasen died of her injuries; Ludwig was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. The driver of the Buick, 19-year-old Tristan Smith of Rock Rapids, wasn’t hurt.

The collision took place around 3:50 pm.
