SL Man Sentenced On Federal Drug Charges

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– A Spirit Lake man who distributed methamphetamine and marijuana from 2001 through March 1st, 2002 and fled from a federal court hearing in Sioux City on December 20th, 2004 has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison.

41-year-old Jeffrey Ketzeback pleaded guilty back in June of this year to distributing methamphetamine and marijuana and failure to appear for a plea hearing on federal charges.

At the June plea hearing, Ketzeback admitted that between 2001 and march 1st, 2002 he and others distributed over 400 grams of methamphetamine and over 12-thousand grams of marijuana from his apartment at 514 Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake…within a thousand feet of Spirit Lake High School.

Ketzeback had been previously convicted of selling marijuana on June 19th, 2000 in Jackson county, Minnesota.

The failure to appear charge stemmed from Ketzeback failing to appear for a guilty plea hearing on December 28th, 2004. A warrant was issued and Ketzeback was arrested in California on March 1st, 2006.

In addition to the prison term, Ketzeback must also serve a four-year term of supervised release.

Ketzeback is being held in the custody of the U-S Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison.
