(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of Highway Nine and Hudson Avenue in Spirit Lake sent two people to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Police Department says 89-year-old Merrill McIntosh of Okoboji was northbound on Hudson Avenue and was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Highway Nine when he pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by 76-year-old Eldon Ferguson of Spirit Lake.
McIntosh was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries; Ferguson was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare by private vehicle with non-incapacitating injuries.
7,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire driven by McIntosh; 10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Ferguson.
McIntosh was charged with failure to yield upon making a left turn.
The mishap took place around 6:00 a.m. Saturday.
