(Spencer)– A single-vehicle mishap Saturday in Spencer sent one person to the hospital.
Spencer police say 17-year-old Gregory Wilkerson of Spencer was westbound on 11th Street Southeast near the intersection with Second Avenue Southeast when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal. Authorities say Wilkerson then lost control of the vehicle, which went into the southwest ditch.
Wilkerson was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with a head injury. No injuries were reported to a passenger.
3,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 2004 Oldsmobile driven by Wilkerson, who was charged with failure to maintain control.
The mishap took place around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
