(Des Moines)– Twenty Iowa counties will receive federal aid after sustaining crop losses.
Governor Tom Vilsack says he received the news from the U-S Department of Agriculture, which granted his request for help. Vilsack had asked for declarations for 22 counties, but he says he is satisfied with the U-S-D-A’s decision.
Eligible residents in the counties will be able to request low-interest loans from the Farm Service Agency through the U-S-D-A Emergency Loan program.
Eligible counties in our area include Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Plymouth and Sioux.
