(Worthington, Mn.)– An Odebolt, Iowa man was injured and some pigs he was hauling didn’t quite make it to market when a semi he was driving crashed Monday on Highway 60 on the south edge of Worthington.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 24-year-old Deejay Campbell of Odebolt was driving a 1995 Peterbilt semi tractor that was pulling a 2004 Wilson trailer loaded with hogs when he fell asleep at the wheel. The semi left the road and rolled in a ditch.
Campbell was taken by ambulance to Worthington Regional Hospital with severe head lacerations.
Over half the pigs were killed in the crash.
The semi was described as a total loss.
The mishap took place shortly after 8:00 a.m. Monday.
The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Worthington Police Department.
