(Sibley)– A Rockwell City man has been sentenced in a stalking case out of Osceola county. 52-year-old James Casey was convicted of stalking and possession of burglar’s tools. He was arrested June 5th of this year following an incident at a residence in Ashton. Authorities say Casey’s vehicle was spotted by law enforcement and that officers saw him leaving the protected residence with a bag. A search warrant was obtained and executed on the vehicle, resulting in authorities finding items allegedly taken from the residence, along with burglar tools.
A five-year jail term on the stalking charge was suspended and Casey was placed on probation for two years. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all but 30 suspended on the charge of possession of burglar’s tools, with credit for time already served. Casey was also ordered to serve two years’ probation on that count. A third degree burglary charge was dismissed.
