Police Offer Tips For Safe Holiday Shopping

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Stores opened early today (Friday) as the rush is on for holiday bargains.

To keep you safe while shopping, police are offering safety tips. That includes letting someone know where you’re going and when you’re coming home.

Other good ideas are to remember where you park and be careful with your wallet and purse.

Also, don’t forget to tell your kids where to go or who to talk to if you get separated from them while shopping.

Meanwhile, the holiday shopping season is also a prime time for identity theft. People typically use credit cards to make multiple or large purchases this time of year. Because of that, credit card companies might be less prone to suspect fraud. Police say thieves know that and consumers have to be more aware during the holiday season.
