Petition On Proposed Restructuring Of Maritime Museum Board Hits The Streets

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– An Arnolds Park woman is concerned over the proposed restructuring of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum’s board of directors.

Dorothy Buckner says any new election to downsize the board from 28 to nine members should involve more than just the current board members. She’s distributing a petition to that affect. Buckner says she feels any board, regardless who it is, should NOT vote for themselves for positions on the board.

Buckner says the petitions have been out only a few days, and already she’s had a great response. Buckner says she originally intended to put the petitions in only a couple of businesses, but she says that expanded after she got more and more inquiries from people.

Buckner says anyone interested in signing should do so by this Saturday. She plans to present the petition at Monday’s meeting of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum Board.

Copies of the petition can be found at the Birdhouse Cafe in Milford, Alan’s Hardware in Arnolds Park, Jenning’s Shell Station in Spirit Lake, I & J Creations in Spencer, Faulkner Plumbing and Heating in Milford and Parks Marina in Okoboji.
