(Okoboji)– The Okoboji city council Thursday signed an agreement with Central Water System under which city crews will assist the operation in a new testing program. The new program is being required of treatment operations that provide water to more than one municipality. The facilities are being required to test for a substance known as trihelamethane…a byproduct of cholrine. If just one sample surpasses established levels, the system won’t be fined, but it will have to notify, in writing, residents in both towns about the problem, and the system operators will be required to fix it.
In other business, the council approved a recommendation from the Design Review Committee granting a building permit to Perry Pearson for the construction of a new pro shop at Brook’s Golf Course.
They approved a variance granted by the Board of Adjustment for an addition to a house at 3500 Lakeshore Drive; and they approved a request from Rick Duhn to live trap animals during this season by permission from private property owners.
