NW Iowa Woman Pleads Guilty To Federal Meth Charges

(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa woman has pled guilty in federal court to meth charges.

26-year-old Jamie Peterson of Alta pled guilty Tuesday to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and distribute pseudoephedrine and one count of manufacturing or distributing methamphetamine where an individual under the age of 18 was present or resided.

Court documents say from February of 2006 through July of 2009, Peterson and others manufactured and distributed meth and pseudoephedrine at a residence in Truesdale within a thousand feet of a park.

On November 1st, 2008, law enforcement officers searched Peterson’s residence in Alta and found a meth lab along with pseudoephedrine, lithium batteries, anhydrous ammonia and methamphetamine. Authorities say a child under the age of 18 was also present at that location.

Sentencing is pending completion of a pre-sentence report.

Peterson remains on supervision with U.S. Probation.

She faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment; an eight million dollar fine and atleast 10 years up to life of supervised release following any imprisonment.
