New City Administrator Introduces Himself To The Community

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake’s new City Administrator has been on the job just about a week now.

Mark Stevens officially started last Tuesday, January 2nd.

Stevens comes to Spirit Lake from Des Moines, where he served in several administrative capacities for Polk county, including assistant County Manager, overseeing budgets and finances as well as public affairs.

Stevens says he and his wife are no strangers to the Iowa Great Lakes. He says they’ve been visiting the area pretty much their whole lives. Stevens says they purchased a small home in the area couple of years ago and have visited even more frequently since then. He says they’re happy to make their full-time home here.

Stevens says Spirit Lake has a lot going for it, pointing out all the recent growth in the community, and he says he looks forward to capitalizing on that and seeing what role he can play in helping to continue that growth.

Stevens and his wife Cindy have two children and two grandchildren who live in the Des Moines area.
