(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Monday at the intersection of 235th Avenue, or the YMCA road, and 175th Street, or Stakeout Road, sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 79-year-old James Cates of Okoboji was southbound on 235th Avenue and 54-year-old Kenneth Nielson, Junior of Spirit Lake was eastbound on 175th Street when the two collided.
Nielson was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated and released. No injuries were reported to Cates, who was cited for failure to yield.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Okoboji and Spirit Lake Police Departments, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance, Spirit Lake First Responders and a member of the Milford Fire Department who happened to be passing by.
