Milford Council Tables Fire Boat Funding Request

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday tabled a request for 13-thousand dollars in funding for a new lakes area fire boat.

Councilman Detlef Ball, who was unable to attend the meeting, sent an e-mail expressing his opposition to the request, saying Milford wouldn’t benefit very much from the fire boat, saying it would be a duplication of service. Council members Teresa Netsch and Bud Kyle echoed the comments.

Councilman Lyn Johnson then made a motion to table any action on the request until the council’s January 12th meeting when a new council member will be seated at the table. The motion passed unanimously.

The Milford city council also Monday tabled a developer’s proposal to donate land to the city for a new park. It would be located south and west of Hunter Hills Subdivision on 28th Street.

The council gave final approval to a resolution requiring any houses moved in to the city to be inspected; authorized the police department to get bids on a new patrol car; voted in favor of a Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation to approve the preliminary plat for Lori’s Subdivision; and they authorized the City Administrator to obtain proposals for a City Engineer.
