(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday heard an update on the construction of the Bedell Family YMCA. The council, which in the past had indicated it would not contribute toward construction of the facility, indicated it may be interested in providing funding for programs that would benefit Milford residents.
In other business, the council learned the city’s Worker’s Compensation insurance premiums will be increasing by about 35 percent in the upcoming fiscal year due to significant claims filed in the past year or so.
The council approved an increase in boarding fees from the Northwest Iowa Humane Society from 100-dollars a month currently to 200. To help offset the increase the city will raise its impound fees to 50-dollars.
The council also approved a maintenance agreement with West Okoboji for maintaining a portion of old Highway 71 and 202nd Street where the two cities share jurisdiction. The city of West Okoboji will maintain those areas for Milford in exchange for 800-dollars a year.
