Milford Council Considers Doing Away With Twice A Week Garbage Pick Up

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford City Council is thinking about doing away with twice-a-week garbage pick up during the summer.

Under present policy, the city would start its twice-a-week pick-up on Mondays and Fridays June 1st. The proposal would eliminate the Friday pick up.

City Administrator Brian Reed says it would allow public works crews to focus more time on things such as sewer and street repair.

The council took no action on the proposal at their meeting Monday evening. Several said they want to hear feedback from the public first.

The issue is expected to be back on the agenda for their next regular meeting later this month.

In other business Monday, the Milford city council voted to purchase new antennas for the city’s outdoor warning sirens for two thousand dollars. Police Chief Steve Zimmerman told the council the sirens only work periodically because they’re having a problem picking up a radio signal transmitted by the Dickinson County Communications Center. He’s hopeful the new antennas will solve the problem.
