Meeting To Focus On Water Quality In East & West Forks Of Des Moines River

November 22, 2014

(Algona)– Water quality in the east and west forks of the Des Moines River will be the topic of a meeting the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be holding in December.

DNR officials will be on hand at the December 5th meeting to explain the process of developing plans to improve the river’s water quality and answer questions. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Algona Public Library.

The DNR is also seeking public comment in identifying causes and solutions to the problems in the river’s watersheds. Portions of the East and West Forks of the Des Moines River are impaired by high levels of bacteria and nitrates.
