(Milford)– About 80 people attended a meeting in Milford Thursday evening to help determine future goals and priorities of the Dickinson Cleanwater Alliance. The alliance is a group of volunteers that help protect the water quality of the Iowa Great Lakes.
The session was facilitated by representatives of the Kansas City regional office of the U-S Environmental Protection Agency, of which Jeanette Schafer is a Life Scientist. She tells KUOO news they were very pleased with the turnout and the input that was gathered. She says some of the key issues that were brought out included a continued coordination of activities and information, education, and support in planning and prioritizing actions.
Schafer says the EPA is assisting the Cleanwater Alliance in whatever direction the organization wants to go.
Schafer says two more meetings to follow-up Thursday evening’s will be held next month. One of them, a small group session, will be held February 5th at the Dickinson County Extension Office. Another larger meeting similar to Thursday’s will be held February 26th at the Milford Community Building.
