(Spencer)– The Superintendent of the Spencer School District will retire at the end of the current school year.
Glen Lohman made the announcement at Monday evening’s Spencer School Board meeting.
Lohman is stepping down after spending 39 years in education. He began his career in Owatonna, Minnesota, then took a job as Middle School Principal at Estherville. Lohman’s spent the last 20 years with the Spencer School District, 11 of those as superintendent.
A search for his replacement will be getting under way soon. The board Monday evening voted to seek proposals from consultants to assist in the process.
Lohman says he plans to spend atleast some of his retirement time training and raising labradors. He said he’ll be looking at other things as well, but didn’t elaborate.
The Spencer School Board voted to accept Lohman’s resignation with regret.
School Board President Ross Brockshus called Lohman a “good, strong leader” for the district. Board member Randy Van Dyke told Lohman he was a tremendous asset to the Spencer School District.
