(Undated)– Iowa’s unemployment situation bucked a national trend in June. That word from Richard Running of Iowa Workforce Development.
Running says the state’s unemployment rate in June stood at four-point-two percent…down from four and-a-half percent in May. It’s considerably lower than the national rate, which stood at six-point-four percent in June.
The situation wasn’t as rosy though locally. Unemployment in Dickinson county was up considerably in June, at four-point-four percent. That compares with two percent in May. Clay county saw its jobless rate go from three-point-one percent in May to three-point-nine percent in June. The rise was steeper in Emmet county, which saw its unemployment go from four-point-nine percent in May to six-point-four percent in June. In Osceola county, the June unemployment level stood at three-point-three percent…compard with two-point-six percent in May. The rate in Palo Alto county went from two-point-eight percent in May to three-point-two percent in June; and O’Brien county’s unemployment rate for June was unchanged from May…at two-point-seven percent.
