(Spencer)– Iowa Workforce Development is out with its latest unemployment numbers for October, and there’s some good news for Clay and Dickinson counties.
Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Corridor of Opportunity, says the statistics show the combined rate for the two counties went from 3.4 percent in September to 3.1 percent in October. The statistic is also an improvement from the same timeframe a year ago. Shyrock says it translates into having an additional 120 people in the workforce.
October unemployment rates in other counties in the area included Emmet at 3.6 percent…down from 5.2 percent in September; O’Brien at 2.2 percent…down from two and-a-half percent in September; and Osceola dropped from three percent in September to two and-a-half percent in October. Palo Alto county posted a slight increase…going from 2.8 percent in September to 2.9 percent in October.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to four and-a-half percent in October from 4.6 percent in September.
