(Washington, D.C.)– Iowans who have beaten cancer, and Cancer Society volunteers, head to the nation’s capitol this week for the “Celebration on the Hill”.
Sandy Sunde of Estherville is a volunteer with the Iowa delegation. She hopes the event will encourage congress to reauthorize funding for the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Program, and restore funding that’s been cut from cancer research.
Di Hirt of Spirit Lake is also attending the event. She’s been selected as an ambassador to represent the state of Iowa.
The “Celebration on the Hill” is scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 19th and 20th) on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
