Lakes Art Center Announces 2007 Schedule

(Okoboji)– The Lakes Art Center Friday announced its schedule of performances for 2007.

For jazz and blues fans, Legends of Jazz with Bob DeFlores takes the stage September 22nd, 2007; and Blind Pig, featuring blues giants Studebaker John and the Hawks will perform October 20th.

For classical movie lovers, the University of Iowa Symphonic Orchestra will be in concert March 3rd; violin master Michael Antonello will perform July 6th; and the world famous California Guitar Trio will be at the Lakes Art Center August 3rd.

Other performances include the Pan American Steel Band May 5th; Buckets and Tap Shoes October 7th; and the Hancher Artist Show in November, 2007.

Made famous by the movie “Titanic”, the musical group “Gaelic Storm” will perform at the Lakes Art Center February 7th; Maria Muluar will be in concert April 14th and Kathryn Grant Crosby, wife of the late Bing Crosby, will present “Remembering Bing Crosby’s White Christmas” December 1st.

Concerts scheduled for next summer include the Headliners June 14th; Second City July 20th and Dave Rowley and Friends August 23rd.

A children’s performance titled “Junie B. Jones” will be on stage February 10th; and the Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform at the Lakes Art Center June 11th.

Multi-Grammy winner B.J. Thomas will be in concert August 11th.

Something new in 2007 will be a speakers series featuring some of Iowa’s business leaders. Speakers will include Tom Bedell of Spirit Lake-based Pure Fishing; Kyle Krause, President of Kum and Go; Speed Herring, founder of Cookie’s Barbecue Sauce; and David Berstein of Sioux City State Steel, the Orpheum Theatre and Saturday in The Park. Dates for the respective speakers haven’t been lined up yet.
