(Lakefield, Mn.)– Authorities have released details into a crash Friday that knocked out power to portions of the region, including some of the Iowa Great Lakes Area.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Anthony Jorgensen of Lakefield was driving a 1999 Freighliner fertilizer truck on County Road 34 about a half mile west of 430th Avenue in Rost Township of western Jackson county. Authorities say Jorgensen lost control after the truck apparently experienced mechanical problems. It went into the ditch, shearing off two electrical transmission poles before rolling.
Jorgensen sustained minor injuries. He was taken to the Jackson Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Extensive damage was reported to the truck, owned by UAP of Lakefield.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lakefield Ambulance Service, Lakefield Fire Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash took place around 12:20 p.m. Friday.
It knocked out power to portions of the lakes area as well as some rural areas around Terril and Estherville and to portions of Jackson county. Power was restored to most areas in about 40 minutes.
