House Explosion Injures Rural Ayrshire Man

November 22, 2014

(Ayrshire)– A rural Ayrshire man was injured Monday evening when his house exploded about a mile and-a-half north of Ayrshire.

Authorities say Keith Cogdill was putting some laundry in a dryer, which caused a leaky propane line to ignite.

Cogdill sustained extensive burns in the blast. He was taken to a local hospital and was transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. His condition information wasn’t available.

The house sustained extensive damage. Authorities say the force of the blast blew out a south wall and several windows.

A representative of the State Fire Marshall’s Office says damage could be 50-thousand dollars or more.
