Hoglot Site Haunts Dickinson Co. Supervisors

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– An issue the Dickinson county board of supervisors would like to forget about once and for all was back on the table at their meeting Tuesday.

Supervisor Wayne Northey reported about a complaint he received over the condition of a driveway and land where Dutch Creek Farms wanted to build a four thousand head hoglot southwest of Milford.

Northey says he received the report from Tom Kaiser, who’s been using a driveway to access an adjoining field he owns. Kaiser wants the driveway fixed. But Assistant Dickinson County Attorney Lonnie Saunders told the board the county has no obligation to do that.

The county and a group opposed to the proposed hoglot, Save Dickinson County’s Evironment, negotiated a settlement to prevent the operation from being built. In return, the two wound up owning the land on a 50-50 basis. Northey says he wants the supervisors to meet with representatives of Save Dickinson County’s Environment regarding the matter.
