November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Flagfest 2007 in Spencer may seem eons away, but the search is on for youth ambassadors for the upcoming celebration.

Becky Fear, Program Director for the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, says the Flagfest Youth Ambassador committee is accepting applications until December 20th. The competition is open to anyone who will be 17 or no older than 19-years-old by January 14th, 2007.

The top winner will receive a 1,500-dollar scholarship donated by the Spencer Rotary Club; second place will receive a one-thousand dollar scholarship donated by Community State Bank; and third place receives a five-hundred dollar scholarship provided by Kiwanis After Five.

Entries should be sent to the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, 122 West Fifth Street, P.O. Box 7937, Spencer, 51301.

Application forms are available at the Spencer Chamber of Commerce and have been mailed to High School Counselor offices in the area.

This year’s Youth Ambassador competition will be held Sunday, January 14th at the Spencer High School Little Theatre at 7:00 p.m.

Students are urged to secure a sponsor for the program to pay a 30-dollar fee. Each contestant will be required to give a three-to-five minute self-expression presentation during the evening competition.
