Erratic Driving Complaints Results In Drug Charges Against Omaha Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A complaint of erratic driving has resulted in charges against two Omaha men.

Clay county authorities say they received a report last Friday about two vehicles traveling south from Fostoria that were being driven recklessly. A sheriff’s deputy, Spencer police and the Iowa State Patrol stopped the vehicles in the 2000 block of North Highway Boulevard in Spencer.

After visiting with the drivers, authorities determined the reckless driving was the result of a family argument over a theft of narcotics from a family business.

The driver of one of the vehicles, Richard Allen McWilliams of Omaha, was arrested for driving while barred…an aggravated misdemeanor.

A search was then conducted which resulted in the discovery of marijuana in one of the vehicles. The driver of that vehicle, Grover Davis, McWilliams’ father-in-law, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana…a serious misdemeanor.

A large amount of cash was also seized at the scene.

McWilliams and Davis were both booked into the Clay county jail.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation and more arrests are likely.
