(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is relaxing most fishing regulations on Diamond Lake in western Dickinson county.
Beginning October 1st, fish may be harvested by any means except with explosive devices, electricity or any fish stupifying substances.
The daily and possession limits have also been removed on the lake.
The relaxed regulations will be in effect until April 1st, 2007.
DNR officials say they plan to draw the water level of Diamond Lake down, rennovate the fish population to eliminate carp, and to allow aquatic vegetation to get re-established in the lake.
The DNR is already in the process of drawing the 166-acre lake down, a process that will be ongoing into 2007.
