(Spirit Lake)– The attic and some vaults at the Dickinson county courthouse are about to get a good old fashioned cleaning in preparation for moving into the first phase of the new courthouse this coming October.
The vaults and attic contain tons of documents and books that must be sorted into what’s going to be kept in the new courthouse, what’s to go to the historical society, and what’s to go to the landfill.
The board of supervisors Tuesday awarded a proposal from Reekers Cleaning Service of Lake Park to clean and disinfect the items so workers can go through them without health concerns. It’s going to cost between 3,500-dollars and four thousand dollars. With Pam Jordan absent, the supervisors voted four-to-nothing to approve the proposal.
All total, supervisor Paul Johnson estimates there’s between 60 thousand and 80 thousand pounds of paper and books in the attic and vaults that needs to be sorted.
The supervisors also Tuesday approved a 20 mile-per-hour speed limit for the newly reconstructed portion of War Eagle Boulevard in the Triboji Beach area.
