Dickinson Supervisors Adopt Disability Services Resolution

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Concerned over the possibility of the state taking over disability services, the Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday adopted a resolution supporting the current county-managed system of providing those services.

County officials say it stems from the 2006 session of the Iowa Legislature when the Department of Human Services proposed taking over the funding of those services.

County officials maintain those with local expertise can best develop innovative, cost-effective solutions to meet the unique needs of citizens, keeping property tax dollars in the county for use by those same citizens.
