Crash Causes Extensive Property Damage

(Spirit Lake)– One person was hospitalized following a crash Tuesday in Spirit Lake involving three vehicles, a shed and a light pole.

Spirit Lake police say 36-year-old Jeffrey Dennis of Spirit Lake was westbound on Highways nine and 71 when he started having a seizure and collided with a shed at the United Building Center parking lot. The vehicle continued on, striking a light pole and an unattended vehicle causing it to rollover, striking a second unattended vehicle.

Seven thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Dennis; a 2001 GMC owned by the David Maske of Mitchell, South Dakota sustained an esimated 9,500-dollars in damage. The second unattended vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet pickup owned by the Lanoga Corporation of Winona, Minnesota sustained an estimated 350-dollars in damage. The shed, owned by UBC, sustained an estimated 1,100-dollars in damage. Damage to a light pole, also owned by UBC, was estimated at two-thousand dollars.

Dennis was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.

The mishap took place shortly before 2:30 p.m.
