Court Date Set For Spencer Woman Accused Of Misappropriating Funds

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer woman accused of stealing money from a credit union is due in court next week.

52-year-old Linda Zech was charged last week with first-degree theft, a class “C” felony; and ongoing criminal mischief, a class “B” felony, for allegedly stealing more than 100-thousand dollars from the Eaton Employee Credit Union.

Zech is scheduled to appear in Clay County District Court at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24th.

Meanwhile, officials say they still aren’t sure as to the exact amount of money that’s missing. A Nebraska accounting firm is conducting an audit.

Depending on what the ongoing investigation turns up, officials say federal authorities may also get involved in the case.
