County Refuses To Contribute To School Crossing Signal

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors say the city of Lake Park and the Harris-Lake Park School District can put up a traffic control device near the high school being built on county road M-27 on the south side of Lake Park. But there’s a stipulation attached–the county won’t contribute any money to the project.

County Engineer Dan Eckert told the supervisors earlier this week he had been approached by Harris-Lake Park Superintendent Tim Christiansen seeking the county’s permission to install some sort of warning light or stop light at the school crossing.

The county’s cooperation was requested because it has jurisdiction over the road, even though it’s within city limits.
