(Spencer)– There’s more good news to report when it comes to the health of the local economy.
Kathy Evert, President of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, says recent figures from Iowa Workforce Development show the region posted an overall job growth from 2000 through November, 2006 of five and-a-half percent…one of the highest among regions and metro areas in the state.
What’s even more impressive is that Dickinson county posted the highest job growth at 12.6 percent of all counties and metro areas in the state for the same time period.
Evert says the increase in job growth came from within, not from large locations outside the area.
She says job growth is expected to continue despite recent downsizing by some of the larger employers in the region.
Evert says there are numerous opportunities for future job growth as new ethanol and biodiesel plants come on line in the corridor.
